EMERGENCY AMBULANCE: DIAL 112 Tell the ambulance which private or public hospital to take you to. Note that private hospitals will often send patients with severe problems to the main State hospitals. PEDIATRICS (under 18 years old) Spitalul Grigore Alexandrescu / Grigore Alexandrescu Hospital
ADULTS / Emergency Clinic Hospital
a note about public hospitals: The main emergency hospitals have excellent doctors, though the facilities and other staff may not be at the level you are accustomed to. (i.e. some of our members have been surprised there are no chairs for accompanying parents, that family members have been told to go to a private pharmacy to purchase medicine recommended by the doctor, and that certain staff appreciate tips). While doctors usually speak English, if you have an extended stay you may find it useful to bring a Romanian-speaking friend with you to talk with staff. Private Hospitals and Clinics Our members use many different private providers, including Sanador, Medicover, Regina Maria (and its Euroclinic hospital), and others. | BUCHAREST RESOURCES Welcome pamphlet from IWA: Making Bucharest Home 2019.pdf Ask questions, get current tips etc from IWA members on our private Facebook group: Best overall source for up-to-date info on events, restaurants, attractions and more: Purchase tickets for events at: info for families (run by volunteers): Bucharest with Kids website News in English: Nine O'Clock News Transportation: Metro (subway)
Most of us have, at some point in our lives, packed special products from "home" in our suitcase. If your stash has run out, and you don't know where to shop, this IWA pamphlet from 2018 might be useful (though every day there are more shops and international products in Bucharest): | Blogs We Read and (personal opinions of writers)
